I am an artist and educator based in New York City. I create artwork with code, and focus on building experimental drawing and animation tools. I make interactive environments that invite participants to become performers. My main focus is how computation can be used as medium for poetry.
Note: I’m currently in the process of redoing my website here (after many years of neglect) so this page is just a placeholder while I get that up, but I will do my best to link out to recent projects and things I’m working on.
First, I post sketches I make with software daily on instagram. I have been doing this for over a year and recently I wrote about the process.
I helped create the School for Poetic Computaton in 2013 with a group of friends after teaching for a decade at Parsons school of Design. We wanted to create a low-cost, alternative school where students can come for short 10 week sessions that are a mixture of an artist residency and an intensive seminar. At SFPC we explore how electricity, code and theory can be used to make poetry.
I write sometimes on medium - here’s an article about open office hours which I do once per week. I also wrote an article with advice for students and tips for public talks.
I helped make openFrameworks, an open source c++ framework for creative coding.
Land lines is an experiment I made with the google data arts exploring drawing and geography. Here’s a detailed technical write up
